Saucony Cross Country Running Shoes

There are a number of things to think about when buying cross country running shoes, among them the price, the company that makes them, the materials, how they fit, how they feel and how well they support your feet.  This is true for the newest runner to the most experienced cross country runner.  The right shoes can make all the difference in your performance and even prevent injury.  It is just as important as learning the proper running technique, warming up and stretching.

The Name on the Shoe

The brand name isn’t very important to some, but it can be a very important factor when looking for quality running shoes.  A company that does not make very good shoes could make footwear from poor quality materials and not offer the kind of support or comfort that you need for cross country running.  Companies with a good reputable name, like Saucony, will ensure that the shoes are well-made, at the very least.  This will also relieve the problem of not knowing who made your shoes or where they were made.

What They Cost and What They’re Made From

The material that your shoes are made from will be a big factor in the final cost.  Leather shoes, for instance, will be more expensive than similarly styled mesh shoes.  The brand name or the style of the shoe will also influence the price, sometimes by a great deal.  Saucony has a style for everyone and a price for every budget.  It helps to think outside of the box, so to speak.  Someone with small feet might try to wear some of the bigger children’s shoes, like a woman with small feet looking at the bigger sizes of boy’s shoes.  No matter what the case, it is vitally important that the shoes fit right and give your feet the right support.

There are certain types of shoes that simply sell better, so they will usually have a higher price.  Look for sale prices and remain conscious of your budget when shopping for shoes, as for anything else.  Serious runners might benefit from a higher-end shoe which will last longer.  Those who run infrequently might do well to get cheaper shoes, because they won’t see as much wear.

The Fit and Feel of Your Shoes

The arches are vital to the support that you get out of a pair of shoes.  Once you try the shoes on, they should immediately feel like they fit you.  If you have to break them in, chances are they will never actually feel right.  They should support not only your arches but your ankles as well, and it should feel good to wear them.  Before going to the store to try on a few pairs, be sure to wear the type of socks that you would normally wear while running, so that you will get the proper feel of any prospective purchases.   At the store, lace the shoes up tight and take a trial jog around the store for the final test.  If there is something about them that just does not feel right or comfortable, move on to the next pair.
